Sunday, October 20th
Today’s 6:30 pm Mass will be celebrated according to the Roman Missal of 1962 (the last edition of the missal prior to the reforms mandated by the Second Vatican Council) in its fullest form: Solemn High Mass, meaning a Mass sung by the celebrant (Fr. Kocik) and assisted by a deacon, subdeacon, acolytes, and choir. We invite you to come experience, perhaps for the first time, the glories of the traditional Latin or “Tridentine” Mass in its full splendor. It is, in the words of the Catholic convert Fr. Frederick Faber, “the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven.” And, Roman Catholics, it’s your heritage. The Ordinary of the Mass will be the “Missa de Angelis” (Mass VIII); the Proper readings and prayers are those of the 22nd Sunday After Pentecost. Latin-English pew booklets will be provided for your convenience and participation.
*** UPDATE *** The deacon and homilist of the Mass was Dom Alcuin Reid. For the full text of his homily, click HERE [added 12/11/13]
